Global Conference - Hanoi Vietnam
14 to 18 September 2008
"IMPACT OF THE GLOBALISATION ON THE
ANIMAL GENETIC RESOURCES"
The 7th RBI Global Conference was hosted by the National Institute of Animal Husbandry in Vietnam and held in Hanoi 14-18 September 2008. It attracted delegates from all parts of the world and focused on the theme of the impact of globalisation on animal genetic resources. This is an issue of critical importance to endangered native breeds, and the discussion will extend into the next global conference (8th) in Turkey.
There were more than 50 presentations during the conference in Hanoi covering both wider topics of conservation and particular studies of species or individual breeds. All the major species were included. The genetic diversity of livestock in Vietnam was described and evaluated in several presentations, but also there were presentations from Africa, North America, Europe and other parts of Asia.
